In Aztec mythology, Xolotl was a god of fire and lightning. He was commonly depicted as a dog-headed man and was a soul-guide for the dead. He is the dark personification of Venus, the evening star, and was associated with heavenly fire. The axolotl is named after him. This is the work of artist Mocre_Dis. Mocre is a Mexico City– based augmented reality and fine artist weaving together pre-Hispanic mythology and cutting-edge tech. Through painting, linocut, digital illustration, and immersive media, they create vivid portals where Mexico’s endemic animals and ancestral stories come alive blending ancient symbolism with bold contemporary expression.
