Saga Castle History Museum
Welcome to the Saga Castle History Museum, located in Saga City, Japan.
The museum stands on the former grounds of Saga Castle, the historic seat of the Nabeshima clan, who ruled the Saga Domain during the Edo period.
The main building is a faithful reconstruction of the honmaru (main compound) palace of Saga Castle. It recreates the traditional wooden architecture and spacious tatami-mat rooms where the lord of the domain once conducted political affairs and received important guests.
Saga played an important role during the final years of the Edo period and the Meiji Restoration. The museum introduces this fascinating period through historical documents, artifacts, and exhibits that tell the story of the people of Saga and their contributions to the modernization of Japan.
Today, the Saga Castle History Museum offers visitors a chance to step back in time and experience the world of the samurai.
Explore the 3D model and discover a piece of Saga’s history from anywhere in the world.
