Heiwa Kannon

The Heiwa Kannon (Peace Kannon) in Utsunomiya is a towering 27-meter-tall statue of the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. Built in 1954 as a symbol of post-war peace and recovery, it stands atop a hill in Ohya, offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding stone quarry landscape. Visitors can climb inside the statue for a unique perspective.
