Bjarnarfell (Geysir Geothermal Area)
21 visits0 likes
Bjarnarfell is a prominent mountain in Southwest Iceland, rising to 724 meters just west of the world-famous Geysir Geothermal Area. Its northern and eastern slopes are geologically significant, consisting of rhyolite and basaltic breccia, which indicate the presence of an extinct central volcano beneath the surface.
Because it overlooks the Haukadalur valley, the summit provides a stunning panoramic view of the steaming vents and erupting geysers below. Hikers often use Bjarnarfell for a bird's-eye perspective of the Golden Circle, watching Strokkur spout water from a peaceful, elevated distance.
